Tour Detail
It is a spiritual and cultural performance rooted in the Sufi tradition of Islam. The ceremony was inspired by the teachings of the 13th century poet and mystic Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi. The most prominent element of the ceremony is an active meditation dance called the *Sema*, in which dervishes (Sufi practitioners) perform a continuous spinning.
The *Sema Ceremony* has a structure that includes a series of rituals and symbolism:
1. *Naat-ı Şerif*: Begins with the recitation of a hymn praising the Prophet Muhammad.
2. *Taksim*: A solo performance of the ney, representing man's longing for God.
3. *Devr-i Veled*: Dervishes greeting the chief dervish and then starting to whirl in the semahane.
4. *Sema*: Dervishes expressing their love for God with four salutes (turns).
5. *Hatime*: It ends with a closing prayer and a section from the Quran.
The purpose of the ceremony is for the dervishes to embark on a spiritual journey, feel close to God and experience an inner transformation. Every movement and element has a deep meaning; the dervishes' right hands open to the sky and their left hands facing the ground symbolize the transmission of the divine energy they receive from God to the earth.
